He specializes in complex and minimally-invasive spine surgery, spinal cord stimulation for chronic pain, deep brain stimulation for Parkinson's disease, and brain tumor surgery. He received his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine before completing neurosurgical residency training at the University of Southern California. He then did additional fellowship training at the Ohio State University in neuromodulation.
